Graphic
Design...what is it? This general term applies to almost
any type of design for reproduction, which might include posters, advertising,
catalogues, t-shirts and thousands of other everyday items. Someone,
somewhere designed the look on every package and every ad you see in the
grocery, in magazines, in catalogues. A person or team decided where
to put each image, what font to use, how to help viewers read or interpret
the information. Regardless of what esteem you may hold advertising,
it is the medium through which you learn about products you need and organizations
you support.
Sometimes my graphic design
commissions were no more than an image, such as a t-shirt design, but often
they encompassed an entire package of promotional items to help a business
introduce itself to potential customers: I have designed and
produced catalogues, posters, ads, brochures, wearables, banners, trophies,
and dozens of other items needed to successfully complete an athletic event
or fill a raft trip with river enthusiasts. Here are just a few of
the images that helped do just that. |
