Copper and wood; two substances revered in their universal beauty. Without protection, both show signs of age. Ironically, in both cases the aged version gradually was accepted as beautiful. Green copper (verdigris) and gray, cracked checked wood gained reverence as their inevitability was accepted. Interestingly, the same happens with people. Youth is beautiful, middle age is failing, old age shows signs of "character." So, made with redwood and copper this outdoor table continues to serve well, though no longer looks as it did in its youth. The elegant lines and simple shape are now partnered with character. Perhaps this is "wisdom" in the world of furniture? |
