This piece was given a Purchase Award at the Arkansas Arts Center 31st annual Toys Designed by Artists show. It is now a permanent part of the collection and used often when demonstrating some of the fascinating creations from the show. The Urchin, when grabbed by the handle and rotated slowly makes a sound like musical falling water, accompanied by the visual dance of each painted wood disk falling from inside to outside and back.
