This dining table is almost not there; the glass dissolves into the table
carvings and the surrounding room. But, like place settings on diminutive
magic carpets, the table is both a setting for comfortable conversations
and a conversation piece, itself.
I carved
the roots of a fir tree. All root grain is incredibly complex and
beautiful. It's hell on tools because of embedded dirt and stones,
grown into the wood. That's half the beauty. When you work with
something natural, you take all that nature provides, not just the part
you want. |
