"Bio"
One gentleman who has known Scott for more than twenty-five years states, “there is no one I respect more for his integrity, energy, alert intelligence, and sheer humane decency.”  Scott reflects favorably on this statement because it says what his visual art does not.  “You can like or dislike my art, my writing, but ultimately behind it all is this person, open and striving to communicate his loves.

Scott’s collection of visual and verbal art shown in part in these pages skips much of his background.  He is often asked how his research in physics, microelectronics and biomedical engineering connect with his present work.  “There is this current body/mind entity that is all those, all that background,” he states, “but the two worlds of science and art are no more separate in me than in mother earth in her ‘bio.’  While producing stunning flowers and forceful natural phenomena, the earth does so with complete adherence to the laws of physics.  The flower is no more separate from the dynamics of flowing water than your body/mind is from its flowing blood.  The two are inextricable, and yet our culture insists on dividing the two.  To learn one, you must learn something of the other.”

Scott has found success as artist, graphic designer, photographer, and illustrator with his work appearing internationally.  His sculpture is shown in galleries in Colorado (Toklat Gallery, near Aspen, CO) and New Mexico (Doug West Gallery near Taos, NM). His public art includes a large sculpture for the State of Colorado at the Dept. of Health and Environment and a piece of his sculpture was recently purchased by the State of Arkansas’ Art Museum collection in Little Rock.

Scott has written for the World Book Encyclopedia, Environmental Toxicology (University of Washington web site), American Whitewater Magazine, Colorado Daily,  River Runner Magazine and others.  In his “spare” time Scott was the president and board chairman of the active and environmentally successful group PUMA, near Boulder, Colorado.  The organization works to find common ground among various city, county, state, and federal agencies and private landowners in the preservation of lands in mixed-management jurisdictions.

Scott is listed in Who's Who in the West, 1977 and 1996.  He designed and built his own passive solar home and studio near Nederland, Colorado.                                                     BACK TO TOP
